Customizable women’s selvedge jeans made to measure
Here you have the opportunity to configure your own individual sewing pattern for women’s selvedge jeans according to your measurements and ideas. You can choose between different fits, pocket variants, waist heights, lengths, etc.
The special thing about selvedge jeans…
…is the shape of the side seam. It runs straight and parallel to the grain from the seat to the hem. For this straight side seam, the trouser legs are placed along the selvedge of the selvedge denim when cutting. As the selvedge denim selvedge does not have the usual fringing, the side seam does not need to be overlocked in this area and becomes a striking detail on the turned-up trouser leg. The straight side seam gives the jeans a special form that creates a boyfriend look for women. Compared to other types of jeans, you will have to reckon with a few more slants, as the straight side seam makes it more difficult to follow the shape of the body. The shape varies greatly from person to person, as it depends on the dimensions, body shape and the chosen variant. This is certainly nothing new for lovers and connoisseurs of this special shape.
The pattern pieces already contain all seam allowances. The finished seam lines are marked in the pattern pieces. This way you can easily see how wide the seam allowances and hem turn-ins are intended to be.
In the instructions supplied, you will find links to the corresponding sewing instructions for the individual steps. We make these available to you online in image/text and video form. If you like, you can take a look at the instructions here.
The instructions also contain layplans for cutting and information on materials and consumption.
We usually need 0.5-10 hours to generate your individual sewing pattern. We will then send you your sewing pattern e-book by e-mail.
This contains the following files:
- A4 PDF pattern file
- A0 PDF pattern file (the pattern is in A0 format in width, but can be longer – depending on how much space is required for the pattern pieces).
- PDF instructions for the sewing pattern
You will receive the sewing pattern in two formats and can decide for yourself whether you want to print out the A4 file at home, glue it together and get started straight away. If you don’t feel like gluing, you can give the A0 file to a copy store or online print shop and have a large pattern sheet made for you. Please note the additional printing and shipping costs of the respective provider.
You can open the PDF files with the free Adobe Reader.
Configurator and variants
Configurator and variants
Make sure you select your variants in the configurator in order, i.e. from left to right or from top to bottom. The display may vary depending on the device. If you go back, check the settings you have already made again.
You will find a general explanation for each option. There are also individual variants to choose from, which contain individual descriptions.
Finally, you can enter your body measurements or select a clothing size.
How to take your measurements is explained during the measurement process. You can also take a look at our measuring instructions here. It is important that you take really careful measurements, because the right measurements are the basis for the right cut.
Overview of the different variants
You can also find the following descriptions directly in the configurator. You can get an overview here:
With selvedge jeans, you choose the leg shape first. In the next step, you determine the width of your trousers by selecting the fit. There are three different leg shapes to choose from.
The straight leg shape runs roughly straight from the knee to the hem and therefore has a wider hem width than the tapered leg shape. The tapered-modern leg shape tapers towards the hem. They are adjusted at the knee so that they are figure-hugging yet very comfortable. The tapered leg shape (carrot shape) tapers towards the hem. They are only slightly adjusted at the knee and are therefore cut wider there than the tapered modern leg shape, but slightly narrower at the hem.
For the fit, you can choose between the three variants described below, all of which are designed for non-elastic material. However, you can also use a slightly stretchy material, as the waistband of selvedge jeans is cut lengthwise and therefore provides stability.
The slim fit is cut quite close to the body, but still has enough width for comfortable movement. In contrast to the slim fit, the regular fit is slightly wider and more comfortable, but less wide than the loose fit and therefore more figure-hugging. These casual jeans have a loose, comfortable and generous fit.
The choice of waistband height is only a pre-selection for the made-to-measure patterns. You only determine the actual height of the waistband when you enter the measurements. For example, if you select the low waistband height here, but enter the measurement for the “side length to the top of the waistband” so high that it corresponds to a medium waistband height, you will get the medium waistband height.
There is also a choice of three different crotch depths . With the normal crotch depth, the crotch seam is approx. 1 cm deeper in the crotch when the normal fit is preselected and approx. 2 cm deeper in the crotch when the casual fit is preselected. The slim fit is almost snug. If you like to wear your trousers with a looser crotch, this low-rise version is the one for you. The cross seam is approx. 5 cm from the crotch. If you like your trousers extra low (baggy style), then this is your option. The cross seam is approx. 8 cm from the crotch.
In terms of length, you can choose between the normal and extra-long version. If you choose the extra-long version, you can turn up the hem and the great selvedge edge will be visible.
You also have three options when choosing the front pockets. Here you can choose the classic round pocket shape with a coin pocket, the same pocket from the front yoke or a square wing pocket.
You can choose between a square or round patch pocket for the rear pockets. The sewing pattern contains templates for optional decorative stitching.
You can choose between 40 mm or 60 mm width for the waistband. It is also available as a shaped or straight waistband. In contrast to the straight waistband, the shaped waistband runs at a slight angle to the center front. This makes it very comfortable. However, it is slightly longer at the seam and only reaches the desired circumference at the upper waistband edge. As the name suggests, the straight waistband is not shaped. The inseam and upper waistband edge are the same length.
When it comes to fly variants, you can opt for a zipper or a concealed fly with buttonholes and buttons.
