Customisable girlfriend jeans made to measure

Do you like girlfriend jeans? Here you have the opportunity to design your own individual sewing pattern according to your measurements and ideas. You can choose between different fits, pocket variations, waist heights, lengths, etc. Girlfriend jeans are jeans that are cut quite slim, but not as tight as our stretch jeans. They can also be tapered, like slim MOM jeans, but don’t have to be high waist. If you prefer a more casual look, boyfriend jeans are the better choice.

The pattern pieces already contain all seam allowances. The finished seam lines are marked in the pattern pieces. This way you can easily see how wide the seam allowances and hem turn-ins are intended to be.

In the instructions supplied, you will find links to the corresponding sewing instructions for the individual steps. We make these available to you online in image/text and video form. If you like, you can take a look at the instructions here.

The instructions also contain layout plans for cutting and information on materials and consumption.

We usually need 0.5-10 hours to generate your individual sewing pattern. We will then send you your sewing pattern e-book by e-mail.

This contains the following files:

  1. A4 PDF pattern file
  2. A0 PDF pattern file (the pattern is in A0 format in width, but can be longer – depending on how much space is required for the pattern pieces).
  3. PDF instructions for the sewing pattern

You will receive the sewing pattern in two formats and can decide for yourself whether you want to print out the A4 file at home, glue it together and get started straight away. If you don’t feel like gluing, you can give the A0 file to a copy store or online print shop and have a large pattern sheet made for you. Please note the additional printing and shipping costs of the respective provider.

You can open the PDF files with the free Adobe Reader.

Configurator and variants

Configurator and variants

Make sure you select your variants in the configurator in order, i.e. from left to right or from top to bottom. The display may vary depending on the device. If you go back, check the settings you have already made again.
You will find a general explanation for each option. There are also individual variants to choose from, which contain individual descriptions.
Finally, you can enter your body measurements or select a clothing size. How to take your measurements is explained during the measurement process. You can also take a look at our measuring instructions here. It is important that you take really careful measurements, because the right measurements are the basis for the right fit.

Overview of the different variants
You can also find the following descriptions directly in the configurator. You can get an overview here:
With girlfriend jeans, you choose the leg shape first. In the next step, you determine the width of your trousers by selecting the fit. There are four different leg shapes to choose from.
As the name suggests, the body-hugging shape is based on the shape of the body. The straight leg shape runs roughly straight from the knee to the hem. The slightly tapered leg shape has a slightly tapered cut and is therefore very comfortable. They are slightly looser fitting on the thighs and taper closer to the ankles. In the flared version, the leg seams are slanted 2° from the knee. The shape is also known as a bootcut, as it can be worn over boots due to the wider hem.
For the fit , you can choose between the four variants described below. Pay attention to the information on the required fabric stretch. If you choose a fit that is intended for non-elastic material, you can also use an elastic material. However, you must then ensure that the waistband does not stretch by fixing it with a suitable interlining or cutting it lengthwise.
The “slim 20” shape is cut close to the buttocks. It is intended for elastic fabrics that can be stretched by approx. 20%. The “slim 10” shape is exactly the same, except that it is suitable for a less stretchy fabric that can only be stretched by 10%. The “slim 0” shape is cut quite close to the body at the seat. It is intended for non-elastic fabrics. Therefore, there is still room for movement. In contrast to the slim fit, the regular fit is slightly wider and more comfortable. This shape is also designed for non-elastic fabrics.
The choice of waistband height is only a pre-selection for the made-to-measure patterns. You only determine the actual height of the waistband when you enter the measurements. For example, if you select the low waistband height here, but enter the measurement for the “side length” to the top of the waistband so high that it corresponds to a medium waistband height, you will get the medium waistband height.
There are two variants to choose from for the crotch depth. With the normal crotch depth, the crotch seam is close-fitting when the slim fit is preselected, with the normal fit it is approx. 1 cm deeper in the crotch. If you like to wear your pants looser at the crotch, the “deep” version is the right one for you. The cross seam on these has approx. 5 cm more distance from the crotch.
You can choose between the normal and 7/8 length versions. The 7/8 length version is ankle-less.
For the saddle shape, you can choose between the classic V-shape or the O-shape. The O-shape is lower towards the side seam.
You have two options when choosing the front pockets. Here you can choose the classic round pocket shape with a coin pocket or the same pocket from the front yoke.
You can choose between a square or round patch pocket for the rear pockets. The sewing pattern contains templates for optional decorative stitching.
You can choose between a waistband width of 40 mm or 60 mm. You can choose between a shaped or straight waistband. In contrast to the straight waistband, the shaped waistband runs at a slight angle to the center front. This makes it very comfortable. However, it is slightly longer at the seam and only reaches the desired circumference at the upper waistband edge. As the name suggests, the straight waistband is not shaped. The inseam and upper waistband edge are the same length.
When it comes to fly variants, you can opt for a zipper or a concealed fly with buttonholes and buttons. You should not use the latter with the slim shapes 10 and 20, as the slit can then pull apart unattractively if it is only held in place by the buttons.

After the payment process, your individual sewing pattern will be sent to you by e-mail. We usually need 0.5-10 hours to generate your sewing pattern.

We provide you with the sewing pattern file in two formats. You can decide for yourself which one to use, as both contain the same sewing pattern.

The A4 file consists of several pages that you can print out and stick together yourself. Here you will find detailed instructions on how best to proceed and what you should bear in mind: Instructions for sewing pattern preparation

The A0 file (A0 in width, the length varies individually) is a page in large format, which you can pass on to an online print shop and have a large pattern sheet sent to you. Please note the additional printing and shipping costs of the respective provider. Perhaps you have a copy store near you that will print out the file for you.

Materials and tools

Materials and tools

Materials:

The materials you need depend on the selection you make when configuring your pattern. We are therefore unable to provide you with an exact list at this point. You will find the exact list of materials required, the quantity, the amount of fabric and, if necessary, the length of the zip in the instructions that you will receive with the pattern. Here is a rough overview:

  • Outer fabric: denim, e.g. cotton or hemp (whether with or without elastane depends on your chosen fit configuration*)
  • pocket lining, e.g. thin, strong cotton fabric
  • fusible interfacing, e.g. Vlieseline G 405
  • Edge tape, e.g. Vlieseline T 12
  • depending on configuration: 1 zip or 3 buttons for the slit
  • depending on configuration: 1 – 2 buttons for the waistband, approx. 15 mm diameter
  • Yarn to match your materials

* In the “Fit” category, you will usually find information on the required stretch of the fabric. We state the required stretch in per cent. For example, 20% stretch means that 10 cm of fabric can be stretched to 12 cm. We cannot give any general information on the required elastane content, as stretchability depends on factors such as material, weave and finish. For example, a material with 3% elastane content may only stretch by 10% – but another may stretch by 20%. So it’s best to do the test yourself or ask your retailer. Some online retailers also provide information on stretchability in the product description.

Here you will find a list of the tools required:

  • Sewing machine
  • Overlock, if available
  • Iron
  • Pins and/or clips
  • Sewing needle for sewing on buttons
  • Scissors
  • Hand measure or ruler
  • Tailor’s chalk or marker pen (trick marker)
  • Printer, paper and adhesive tape for printing and assembling the A4 PDF pattern file (if required)
